SPÓRT AGUS SPRAOI DO PHÁISTÍ
Gaeltots is a community based programme whose sole purpose is to promote the Irish language and culture through 'spórt agus spraoi' to children aged 2.5 - 4.5 years old.
CULTURE
Sessions will be delivered 'as Gaeilge' and will focus on the skills required to play Gaelic Football, Hurling and Camogie.
COMMUNITY
The people you meet on the course will be the same people you meet when your child begins school or joins their local club.
FUN
At the core of these sessions is the desire for each child to have fun in a safe and nurturing environment.
DEVELOPMENT
Children will develop physically, mentally and socially as they meet new friends and take on new challenges.
LEARNING
Under the guidance of qualified coaches and educators, children will see that learning can be exciting and exhilarating.
HOW GAELTOTS WORKS
The Irish language will play a large role in everything that we do at Gaeltots. All activities will be delivered in Irish, followed immediately by an English translation.
Whilst we don’t expect the children to understand the language at the completion of the course, they should be able to understand certain words and phrases. Hopefully, this will pique their interest in their native tongue.
GAEILGE
The playing area will be split up into three individual zones, all focusing on different aspects of Gaelic Games.
Zone 1 will be dedicated to Gaelic Football, zone 2 to Hurling/Camogie and zone 3 to General Fitness/Fun.
ACTIVITIES
As the children are of such a young age, it is expected that parents play an active role in the sessions each week. It will be easier on your child if they know you are there to support and encourage them. If they are comfortable joining in with the group, then you sit back and relax, but when they need help, there's nobody better than 'mammy or daddy'.
